Privacy Policy
The short version
You give us one credit-card statement. We read the category totals out of it, use those totals to calculate whether a specific card is worth it for you, and show you the result. We never ask for a bank login, we never sell your data, and no card issuer pays us anything.
What we collect
| Data | Why | Kept |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Sign-in, and sending your report | Until you delete your account |
| First name | To address you | Until you delete your account |
| Statement file | To extract category totals | Deleted when your report is issued |
| Category totals | The inputs to every verdict | Until you delete the profile |
| Questionnaire answers | Which credits you’d use, how you redeem | With the report |
| Cards you hold | To flag relevant news | Until you remove them |
| Newsletter opt-in | Only if you tick it | Until you unsubscribe |
The statement file is the sensitive one, so it does not linger: it is deleted from storage the moment your verdict is issued, and the deletion is written to our audit log. Only the category totals remain.
What we never collect
- Bank or card login credentials. We have no ability to connect to your accounts.
- Full account or card numbers. If one appears in an uploaded document we do not store it.
- Social Security numbers, credit scores, or credit reports. We do not pull your credit.
- Location, contacts, or device identifiers beyond ordinary web request logs.
Who processes your data
| Vendor | Role | Sees |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database, file storage, authentication | Account details, statement files, totals |
| Anthropic | Reads the statement to extract totals | The statement, at processing time |
| Stripe | Payments | Card details — which never touch our servers |
| Resend | Sends the newsletter and account email | Your email address |
| Vercel | Hosting | Ordinary request logs |
Anthropic processes the document to produce the totals and does not use it to train models under our API terms. [CONFIRM AT LAUNCH]
What we never do
- Sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
- Share your data with card issuers, or accept payment from them.
- Use affiliate links. Our verdicts aren’t influenced by anyone’s commission, because there isn’t one.
- Add you to the newsletter without you ticking the box.
The weekly brief
If you opt in, we send one email a week about card changes. It is a separate, unticked choice at sign-up — creating an account does not subscribe you.
The free credit requires both an account and a subscription. You can create an account without subscribing; you simply don’t get the free credit. If you subscribe, take the credit, and then unsubscribe, you keep the credit— we don’t claw it back.
Where our users are
We serve US residents only (see the Terms). We don’t target the EU or UK, don’t price in their currencies, and don’t advertise there. If a new account is created from the EU or UK, the free credit is granted on account creation alone and is never conditioned on subscribing — which keeps consent freely given for anyone the GDPR or UK GDPR might cover. [REVISIT IF YOU MARKET OUTSIDE THE US]
Deleting your data
You can delete a spend profile or your whole account at any time from your account page. Reports you already received stay readable to you unless you delete them too. Backups are purged within [N] days.
Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your data. Email [email protected] and we’ll respond within [N] days. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. [CONFIRM STATE-LAW SCOPE]
Children
CreditSense isn’t intended for anyone under 18 and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
Terms of Service
Where we operate
CreditSense is offered to residents of the United States only.Every card we track is a US card, prices are in US dollars, and the service is not directed at people outside the US. The site being reachable elsewhere doesn’t mean we offer the service there.
What we provide
CreditSense produces an estimate of what a specific credit card would be worth to you, based on spending data you provide and on publicly available card terms.
This is not financial advice
We are not a financial advisor, credit counsellor, or broker, and nothing we produce is financial, legal, or tax advice.A verdict is an arithmetic estimate under stated assumptions, not a recommendation to open, close, or use any account. Decisions about credit are yours alone, and applying for a card affects your credit file in ways we can’t see or predict.
Accuracy, and its limits
- The data you give us. If a statement is incomplete or unusual, the verdict follows it.
- Only the cards you upload. Spending on cards you don’t give us is invisible, so estimates are conservative.
- Card terms change. We track them and date every report, but issuers change fees, rates, credits and bonuses without notice.
- Points valuations are assumptions. We use conservative figures and state them in every report.
We make no warranty that any figure is accurate, complete, or current, and you should confirm material terms with the issuer before applying.
Credits and payment
A credit buys one verdict report. Credits are bought once, never expire, and there is no subscription. Browsing cards, reading the news, and uploading statements are free.
Refunds: unused credits are refundable within 30 days. A used credit is refundable if the verdict was built on card terms we recorded incorrectly — we refund the credit and correct our data. [CONFIRM WITH ATTORNEY]
Your responsibilities
- Upload only documents you have the right to upload.
- Give accurate information — the output is only as good as the input.
- Don’t attempt to break, overload, scrape, or reverse-engineer the service.
- One account per person.
Your content
You keep ownership of everything you upload. You grant us only the permission needed to process it and produce your verdict.
Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous twelve months, and we’re not liable for indirect or consequential losses — including any financial outcome of a credit decision you make. [ATTORNEY TO CONFIRM ENFORCEABILITY]
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Texas, and disputes will be resolved in [VENUE]. [DECIDE ON ARBITRATION CLAUSE]
